Up

The Tortuga is approximately 45' in length and is located within the Boulder Island dive area. It is marked by a yellow buoy and is at an elevation of 1135' above sea level. Because the lake elevation fluctuates, you can calculate its current depth (normally between 40'-70') by subtracting its elevation from the current lake elevation. For current lake levels, visit the US Bureau of Reclamation website.

This boat was moved a short distance from its original location to its present location on November 24, 1990.  The Tortuga had become a potential navigation hazard as it was in only 20' of water due to lowered lake elevation. A team of divers including myself, rigged, lifted and relocated this vessel to its present location.

The Tortuga is a twin engine (engines still in vessel) cruiser that's a fun dive for most divers. With exit points in all but the bow section, overhead obstructions are minimized and its relatively shallow location makes it easily penetrable.

I will post photos and GPS coordinates for this wreck when lake visibility improves.
