Up

The sailboat is approximately 35' in length and located on the south side of Pyramid Island.  It is located at an elevation of 1109' above sea level. Because the lake elevation fluctuates, you can calculate its current depth (normally between 70'-90') by subtracting its elevation from the current lake elevation. For current lake levels, visit the US Bureau of Reclamation website.

This boat was moved from Lake Mead Marina to its present location on April 7, 1991.  The sunken sailboat, still tied to its mooring buoy had become a navigation hazard in the marina due to lowered lake elevation. A team of divers including myself, rigged and lifted this vessel and towed it to its Pyramid Island location.

Access to the sailboat is best by boat as there is a mooring buoy adjacent  to the wreck marker buoy. Shore access may require a long swim from the beach. If open and accessible, a dirt access road from the shoreline to Pyramid Island may (unless otherwise posted) be used to drop off divers and equipment closer to the wreck site. Divers using this entry point will have to climb down a steep rocky slope to access the water.

The boat lies on its starboard side on a steep slope facing west with the bow slightly higher than the stern. The boat has since become home to a variety of fish species.

I will post photos of this wreck when lake visibility improves.
