Horsepower Cove is a road-accessible dive site located south of the Hemenway harbor launch ramp.  The area is marked with wakeless speed buoys and is a popular area for classes and recreational diving. It is also used for fishing and may experience heavy boat/jet ski traffic during warmer months so exercise caution while diving if watercraft are present.  A sign has been posted on the Hemenway road to alert lake visitors of the law regarding minimum watercraft distances from divers flags.

This area offers restroom facilities, but parking (especially near the end of the road) can quickly become crowded due to limited space.  Plan to arrive early to get the best spots. This area may not be accessible if the lake elevation is high. Below is a picture of Horsepower Cove.  The road ends at the large hill (at picture center.)

Along the hillside above Horsepower Cove, you can see part of the old rail system used during the construction of Hoover Dam.  The tracks have been removed but the path (including tunnels) is still open for hikers and bicyclist.  The trailhead is located near the Alan Bible Visitor Center.   The walk is an easy one but be sure to take plenty of water when hiking during warmer weather.  This area is also frequented by bighorn sheep.
