The Lake Mead Dive Park is located on the south side of the dike leading to Pyramid
Island,
adjacent to Lake Mead Marina. The image to the left was taken from Pyramid
Island while facing southwest. The dive area includes waters inside the special
marker buoys that extend from Pyramid Island south to the northern end of
Boulder Beach (not shown on image).
The park includes several sunken boats, a pick-up cab and
three lengths of 48" concrete conduit laid end to end to form a "tunnel."
There is a mooring buoy next to a sunken sailboat. Most of the objects in place at the dive
park are marked by yellow buoys. Diver access is by boat or by shore entry near
the beach end of the dike. Because the lake elevation is continuously
changing, a
long surface swim may be necessary to reach many of the dive parks' offerings.
Lake
Mead Marina lies on the north side of the dike and offers boat rentals, a launch
ramp, courtesy docks, a restaurant, fuel dock and a store. If you don't need the
services a marina offers, Hemenway Harbor, located a few miles to the south,
offers a boat launch ramp with ample vehicle parking. Both of these locations are close to most of the dive sites
referenced on this web.
